Trump Posts Frenzy After Key Elections
Donald Trump went on a posting spree on Truth Social Wednesday, sharing more than 30 messages in under two hours. The flurry of posts came a day after Democrats won major elections in New York, California, Virginia, and New Jersey. Between 4:17 p.m. and 6:40 p.m. ET, Trump made 33 posts covering a wide range of topics. Some urged followers to buy books by former FBI agent Nicole Parker, Fox News analyst Gianno Caldwell, Congressman Barry Loudermilk, trade adviser Peter Navarro, and his former lawyer Christina Bobb, whose book he wrote the foreword for. Several posts included videos showing Trump reading text that appeared nearly identical to his previous posts. These videos seemed AI-generated, though their authenticity could not be independently verified. Social media users confirmed the content as AI through Grok, the platform’s AI assistant. In the videos, Trump stood behind a podium in an unidentified room. He discussed his recent meeting with the Japanese prime minister, his G2 summit with China’s President Xi Jinping, and Walmart’s pricing on Thanksgiving dinners. “Walmart just announced that prices for a Thanksgiving Dinner are now down 25% since 2024 under Sleepy/Crooked Joe Biden. AFFORDABILITY is a Republican Stronghold,” Trump posted. Trump also repeated threats toward Nigeria, stating that if the government continues to allow the killing of Christians, the U.S. will immediately stop all aid and assistance. He criticized Obamacare as “really bad healthcare” and a “disaster” in another post, then quickly shifted to attacking Democrats as “crazed lunatics,” urging Republicans to take the “nuclear option” to end the filibuster. The posting spree included an image marking the anniversary of his re-election. The graphic showed Trump and Vice President JD Vance with unnaturally white teeth and wax-like skin in front of fireworks, with the caption “1 year since elected.” The rapid succession of posts has raised questions about Trump’s mental acuity. They come just a day after Democrats swept statewide contests in Virginia, New Jersey, California, and Pennsylvania. New York also elected democratic socialist Zohran Mamdani as mayor, who gained attention for engaging directly with voters through social media. In his victory speech, Mamdani addressed Trump, saying, “Turn the volume up,” a clear nod to the former president’s social media activity. Trump responded to Tuesday’s election outcomes in a separate Truth Social post, claiming in all caps that Republicans lost due to the shutdown and the fact that he was not on the ballot. The extraordinary posting frenzy highlights Trump’s continued reliance on Truth Social to communicate directly with his base. Analysts say the timing, content, and style of his posts could influence public perception ahead of future elections. Observers also noted the unusual AI-generated videos and highly visual posts, a tactic increasingly used in political messaging. The combination of rapid posting, multimedia content, and political commentary demonstrates Trump’s effort to maintain influence and visibility in real-time. While some posts focused on policy and criticism of Democrats, others leaned heavily into promotion of his allies and self-promotion. The mix of topics and rapid shifts between subjects created a chaotic but highly visible online presence, keeping attention on Trump immediately after significant Democratic victories. Political analysts predict that Trump’s approach may energize his supporters while simultaneously drawing scrutiny from opponents and the media. With social media playing a key role in modern political campaigns, the former president’s posting spree exemplifies the evolving strategies of political communication in the digital age.
