World Series Game 7 Draws 51 Million
World Series Game 7 between the Los Angeles Dodgers and Toronto Blue Jays drew an average of 51 million viewers across the United States, Canada, and Japan. The Dodgers won 5-4 in 11 innings, marking the most-watched Game 7 since the 1991 World Series between the Minnesota Twins and Atlanta Braves.
The game peaked at 27 million viewers across Fox Sports, Fox Deportes, and Fox’s streaming platforms. Nielsen reported it was the second most-watched broadcast in the U.S. last week.
Compared to previous series, Game 7’s viewership is notable. It surpassed the 2017 Dodgers-Houston Astros Game 7, which averaged 29.07 million, and was 16% higher than the last Game 7 between the Washington Nationals and Astros at 23.19 million viewers.
Earlier games in the series had strong ratings as well. Game 6 ranked fourth in Nielsen ratings, Game 4 seventh, Game 5 eighth, and Game 3 13th. The complete seven-game series averaged 15.71 million viewers on Fox, a 2% increase from last year’s Dodgers-Yankees series, marking the first back-to-back audience growth since 2015-16.
In Canada, the game averaged 11.6 million viewers on Sportsnet and French-language TVA Sports. This is the most-watched English-language sports broadcast in Canada since the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics.
In Japan, where Game 7 began at 9 p.m. local time, the broadcast averaged 12 million viewers. Game 6, featuring World Series MVP Yoshinobu Yamamoto allowing one run in six innings, drew 13.1 million viewers, the most-watched World Series game on a single network in Japan.
Including Game 1 on Univision, the total U.S. series average was 16.1 million viewers. Japan’s overall World Series average was 9.7 million, while Canada averaged 8.1 million.
The entire MLB postseason coverage on Fox, FS1, and FS2 averaged 8.09 million viewers, up 8% from last year, marking Fox’s strongest postseason since 2017.
MLB reported that the World Series was broadcast in 203 countries and territories through 44 media partners in 16 languages, reflecting the global appeal of the championship.
The Dodgers’ victory also secures their second consecutive World Series title, continuing their dominance in recent years. Fans worldwide celebrated the thrilling Game 7, showing the enduring popularity of baseball as a major international sport.
