Turning Point USA Launches Halftime Show
Turning Point USA, a conservative advocacy group, has announced plans for a counterprogram during next year’s Super Bowl LX halftime show. The nonprofit revealed that its alternative event, titled The All American Halftime Show, will run opposite the NFL’s official halftime performance at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California, on February 8, 2026.
The announcement follows the NFL’s selection of Bad Bunny as the 2026 Super Bowl halftime performer. The Puerto Rican singer, who primarily performs in Spanish, was confirmed for the Apple Music Super Bowl Halftime Show on September 28. Bad Bunny’s selection sparked criticism among some conservative circles, which argued that the performance would not be accessible to English-speaking viewers.
Turning Point USA, founded by the late activist Charlie Kirk, who died during a public speaking event on September 10, framed the counterprogram as a celebration of “Faith, Family & Freedom.” The organization shared the news on X, promising that additional details and performers would be revealed at a later date. Their announcement also linked to a dedicated website where fans can sign up for updates and indicate the musical genres they would like featured, including Americana, classic rock, country, hip-hop, pop, worship, and “Anything in English.”
The idea for the alternative halftime show gained traction after comments from Bad Bunny during a “Saturday Night Live” appearance on October 4. During the show, the singer spoke in Spanish and told viewers, “If you didn’t understand what I just said, you have four months to learn.” Conservative commentators, including Turning Point USA contributor Jack Posobiec, responded by suggesting a competing event to provide an English-language alternative. Posobiec wrote on X, “Seems like a great reason for an alternative halftime show.”
Riley Gaines, another Turning Point USA contributor and anti-transgender activist, also commented on the singer’s remarks. Gaines stated on X that Americans should have their own halftime experience, saying, “Bad Bunny told Americans they had 4 months to learn Spanish if we wanted to understand the Super Bowl halftime show. No thanks. We’ll just have our own. Enjoy your low-rated halftime show.”
The All American Halftime Show is Turning Point USA’s first major televised counterprogram to the Super Bowl event, highlighting the growing trend of political and cultural organizations creating alternative broadcasts. While the nonprofit has not yet announced performers, organizers indicated that the program will focus on music, values, and entertainment aligned with conservative American ideals.
Bad Bunny’s upcoming performance has also drawn attention for his activism. The singer has been vocal about immigrant rights in the United States, which has contributed to conservative pushback. Former President Donald Trump criticized the NFL’s decision, remarking that he did not know Bad Bunny and questioned the choice of entertainer for one of America’s most-watched television events.
Turning Point USA’s announcement comes amid organizational changes. Following Charlie Kirk’s death, his widow, Erika Kirk, was elected as the new CEO of the advocacy group. The nonprofit has maintained that the All American Halftime Show will provide a family-friendly, English-language alternative for viewers who may prefer programming aligned with traditional American values.
The move underscores the increasing polarization in American media and entertainment, where political and cultural ideologies are influencing decisions about programming and live events. Turning Point USA’s initiative also reflects a strategy to engage audiences during high-profile national broadcasts, using the Super Bowl’s vast viewership as a platform to promote its messaging.
While the NFL’s halftime show typically garners tens of millions of viewers, the All American Halftime Show is expected to attract a smaller, more targeted audience that shares Turning Point USA’s cultural perspective. Organizers have emphasized that more information, including artist lineups and event logistics, will be announced in the coming months, encouraging fans to register on their website for updates.
The announcement has already generated online discussion, highlighting the intersection of entertainment, language, and politics in one of America’s largest annual television events. With less than four months until Super Bowl LX, attention now turns to how audiences will respond to both Bad Bunny’s performance and Turning Point USA’s alternative program.
