Chris Hansen Primetime Movie Sparks Host Reactions
Chris Hansen is sharing his thoughts on a new Hollywood movie about his past TV show. The iconic host led the famous investigation series To Catch a Predator years ago. Now, a new film called Primetime looks back at that intense era. Famous actor Robert Pattinson stars as the lead reporter in the new project.
Hansen recently spoke out about the film. He admitted that he was not consulted while the team made the movie. Production wrapped up before anyone reached out to him. Company leaders later asked if he would help promote the project. However, Hansen remains skeptical about their true goals.
The veteran reporter voiced his doubts during a recent interview. He noted that his name brings instant fame to the commercial film. As a careful journalist, he wants to watch the full project before forming a final view. He believes it is silly to review a movie he has not seen yet. Even so, he wonders why film producers want to tell this story today.
When asked about the early preview video, Hansen called it very dramatic. He praised the talent of the lead actor and director Lance Oppenheim. Yet, he questioned the real motives behind the creation of the film. He wonders why big media companies want to revisit his sting operations now.
Hansen also revealed that he never got to pick who plays him on screen. Years ago, he wrote a script of his own. Back then, he wanted actor Denis Leary to take the role. He felt Leary had the right style and energy for the part. But today, he is focused on his actual career. He stated that he is busy being the real Chris Hansen.
The upcoming feature boasts a star lineup. Actors Merritt Wever, Skyler Gisondo, Matthew Maher, and Bokeem Woodbine appear in key roles. Musician Phoebe Bridgers also joins the talented ensemble. Their story focuses on the wild success and fast rise of the sting program.
The original TV show ran as a top feature on Dateline NBC from 2004 to 2007. The news crew partnered with a watchdog group called Perverted Justice. Together, they set up fake online chats to lure bad actors. Target suspects arrived at a hidden house expecting to meet young teens. Instead, Hansen confronted them on camera before police made swift arrests.
The hit show generated huge ratings for the network. But it also faced deep legal and moral worries. In 2006, a male suspect took his own life as police and cameras entered his home. Severe backlash followed the tragic event. Network leaders soon ended the popular series.
Hansen moved on to build new independent news platforms. He continues to run investigations across digital media channels today. He plans to attend a private screening of the movie soon. After that, he will share his honest opinion with the public. Fans around the world eagerly await his review of the dramatic film.
